Tonight was Paul's first night of soccer. As I sit at the soccer field watching the 8u boys I am impressed by the skills Chad is running them through.
We had Paul signed up to play and then he didn't want to. Chad said he could try one night and now he is very excited and 6:30 couldn't get here fast enough. This will be good for him. Something that is his own that his brother & sister don't do. For once they get to see what it's like waiting for him :). Morgan just said Paul is so cute out there!
He of course said his Grandpa will be excited that he is playing cause its Grandpa's favorite sport to watch.
Tomorrow my baby will be 7. So hard to believe. I'll share some pictures tomorrow from his special day.

Happy Easter
Dinner is done but not the dishes. Oh to wish them away! We had ham from the pig that Paul raised along with potatoes, corn, biscuits & pumpkin pie for dessert.
The kids loved their Easter baskets and gifts. Bryan got the movie Top Gun while Morgan got a horseshoe necklace that was purple with a cross in the middle. Paul as you can see got a new cowboy hat.
We got 4 loads of cut cedar trees moved to the burn pile. More to go but it's a start.
Hear dishes calling...Happy Easter!

Signs of spring!
A few signs of spring I thought I'd share...my lilacs in bloom, Grandma Littlefield's mini iris, apple trees with blooms starting to fall off & rhubarb.
Little egg
Bryan has been busy picking eggs everyday & was so excited to find this little egg. He wants to poke a hole in it and blow out the egg to keep it.
That is a memory that is high on the list is Grandma Morrison blowing out eggs so I could decorate! How we never broke them is beyond me.

Pigs??
This little piggy went to market, this little piggy stayed home and this group of piggies found there way to our home...okay not how the rhyme goes but we did bring 5 15# pigs home for Paul to raise. He is beyond excited to have this new chore and said he is a "Real Pork Producer!"
We found it interesting that Blue Collar (our sheep guard dog) was like this father to the pigs as we moved them from the truck to their new pen. Where ever he went the pigs seemed to follow. They would all freeze in place, then one would make a few noises and they would all start moving again.
Paul has taken a lot of pride into raising them and one I know has friended Paul enough that he can touch his back with no squeels. He said he is getting practice ahead of getting to be a real 4H member that will take pigs to the fair to show!
The best part of it all? He is learning that to raise a good product it takes work, patience and a lot of care and in the end there will be a good food product that will feed many families.

Friday night
Where does one go on a Friday night In a farming community? The local bar of course. For us it's the Eagles Nest in Surprise. Not only is the food amazing the staff knows your eating habits! Tonight is fish night and for Paul drummies. Food he can eat sometimes is hard to come by, it can not contain soybeans or milk. John knows Paul and always has drummies on hand! Tonight since the kids fed livestock and collected eggs without asking I let them order appetizers. The picture is of Morgan eating a chicken mini taco while watching a movie.
The other thing I like is the fact that it's where the neighborhood gathers. I get ribbed about the market prices at the same time catching up on the latest with the "hood". Each family seems to bounce from table to table talking until they find there spot for the duration.
Cindy is so on top of it she has the kids sodas out before they even sit down.
Tonight we are without Mike as he is on the road shearing about 400 sheep in the northern part of the state. For the kids this might mean Mom will be a softy and let them stay up later and watch a few movies. Paul I do t tho k will make it. His tummy is bothering him and he is half asleep on my lap. I have a feeling he will be in bed with me before the night is over.
Here comes our meal. Catfish for Morgan, cod for me and a burger for Bryan. Paul says its mini chicken legs for him.

EGGS EGGS and more EGGS
So while I am in Nashville at Commodity Classic hubby is holding down the fort. Miss Morgan called me all excited this morning that they collected 6 1\2 dozen eggs from the coop. For them this has been a learning experience. Not only from the financial rewards but from the care and maintance of the hens. If I ever thought I would be typing about hen attitude I would have denied it but I have noticed that they like their routine and they like when you clean and refill their water at dusk and leave the light on while chores are done, then to come back and shut the light off. The kids have learned to wash and package the eggs and how to market. Oh love the farm life.
Bryan will sing on Saturday with the group for "Sing Around Nebraska". He is looking forward to it and getting the chance to meet with kids from around the area.
Well back to working on markets and some interviews here at classic...
